Minor Ladies, U17s and U23s all still competing and all in Semi-finals. Although we are now in the middle of November these teams are still going strong. It was not to be for Oliver Plunketts in the Minor final last week but we still have matches to look forward to.
The Minor Ladies will play their semi-final tomorrow afternoon at home. We wish the girls and their management the very best of luck and encourage everyone to get out and support them.
The U17s will be in Sallins on Sunday afternoon, 1pm, to take on Sallins in their semi-final. These boys play as Oliver Plunketts, an amalgamation with Ballymore Eustace that has succeeded in giving the lads of this age group, along with U16s and Minors, a chance to play competitively. It is great to be able to keep them engaged in sport at what can be a difficult age and without this amalgamation we would not be able to field teams. The very best of luck to everyone involved on Sunday.
The U23s have still not had their semi-final date fixed but it will hopefully be next weekend.
Perseverance is the word of the year according to the Cambridge Dictionary. It is defined as 'continued effort to do or achieve something, even when this is difficult or takes a long time'. The last two years have been difficult for everyone through Covid and indeed it now seems like such a long time with no immediate end in sight. As a club, perseverance is definitely a word that can be applied to every aspect. Coaches and players alike have put in huge effort and achieved so much with members growing and so many teams reaching finals and winning an award. The Committee too has worked hard and achieved quite a lot, from turning the finances around to upgrading equipment and facilities even when this was difficult. We will continue to persevere as we have so much more we want to improve but somethings take longer to achieve.
It is a long time now since Joe set up the Club Lotto and did the first draw, so perseverance is a word he is very familiar with. His continued effort to give away the jackpot is only matched by the effort he put in getting the Lotto established as an important fundraiser for the club. The one benefit to the long time is that the jackpot continues to grow and now stands at €5800. We very much appreciate your support of the Lotto, not least from Michael O Connor and Jim McGuinness who both won €25 in the lucky dip draws. Congratulations gentlemen. If you persevere, you may actually be the one to crack that jackpot and the good news is, it is not difficult to play. Just click on the link below or on Facebook, Twitter, Clubzap or on the website for your chance to win and help the club achieve its long-term goals, or even points!😂
