Legend has it that St Brigid went to the King of Leinster to look for land on which to build her Monastery and he agreed to give her whatever land her cloak would cover. The cloak grew to cover many acres of land which are now known as the Curragh of Kildare. St Brigid is the patroness saint of Ireland and Kildare. From next year onwards the 1st February will be a public holiday, the first named after a woman. She went on to do many good things and is said to have performed many miracles.
Our club is very fortunate to have a lot of very strong women members doing good things. They may not yet have performed a miracle, but the Ladies section of the club is going from strength to strength at all age levels. This week alone we have four young women who have been called up for County panels. Congratulations to Cassie Mallon, Eimear Reilly, Heidi Lyons and Mikaela Burke, a fantastic achievement and the very best of luck to you all going forward.
The cloak of the club will spread across 10k of the Dunstown/Mullaghcash area on the 26th February when the fun run takes place. With the closing date for registrations just over a week away, on the 12th February, you will need to get in soon as places are limited. We are encouraged by the number of people from outside of the club, along with our members, that have already registered and are looking forward to showcasing our club and bringing the good work going on here to a wider audience. So don't miss out, click on the link below, or on any of our social media sites, to sign up. It is said that the prayers of St Brigid would still the wind and the rain and we pray that she will look down on us with favour that Saturday morning at 11am.

Also spreading the good news this week was Shay Corcoran, who graced us all with his presence on Facebook live with our very own legend, in his own lifetime🤣🤣, Joe. Shay was there not only as a representative of the award-winning hurling section of the club but he also assisted Joe with the Lotto draw. Between them they still didn't manage to give away the jackpot, so now it stands at €6700, but they have made both June Brophy and Brian Byrne better off to the tune of €25 each. Congratulations all round. By playing the lotto you are not only in with a chance to make things better for yourself but you will be doing good for the club which in turn is doing good for so many others, a win all round. Click on the link below, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Clubzap or online to be in with a chance:

Tune in again on Monday evening at 8pm on Facebook live for another exciting episode!
Brigid
You were a woman of peace.
You brought harmony where there was conflict.
You brought light to the darkness. You brought hope to the downcast.
May the mantle of your peace cover those who are troubled and anxious,
and may peace be firmly rooted in our hearts and in our world.
Inspire us to act justly and to reverence all God has made.
Brigid you were a voice for the wounded and the weary.
Strengthen what is weak within us. Calm us into a quietness that heals and listens.
May we grow each day into greater wholeness in mind, body and spirit.
Amen.
